Where the Road Ends: A Guide to Trail RunningIt’s Day 4 of our Where the Road Ends: A Guide to Trail Running Launch Week contests and we aren’t slowing down a bit. In fact, today’s the first chance for both of winners (yup, once again, we’ll have one women’s and one men’s winner) to pick up not one, but two pairs of trail shoes… along with a lot of other sweet stuff. This pair of prize packs features La Sportiva, Hoka One One, Black Diamond, Smartwool, and Honey Stinger!

As we are holding these contests to celebrate the launch of Where the Road Ends perhaps you’ll check out the book. (It’s now available for purchase!) Also, feel free to spread the word about the book however you feel comfortable!

La Sportiva logoWay back in 2008, La Sportiva was the first trail running company to say “here, iRunFar, test our shoes.” Eight years later, they’re still supporting iRunFar and still making great trail shoes. Toward the recent end of that span, Sportiva started making great trail running apparel, as well. Here’s what La Sportiva is doing to sweeten the pot for two lucky trail runners!

  • La Sportiva Akasha - womens

    The women’s Akasha

    La Sportiva Akasha trail shoe (men & women) — A great all-around trail shoe;

  • La Sportiva men’s Velocity Tank  & women’s Sprint Tank — Good options on a hot day;
  • La Sportiva men’s Pace Short & women’s Snap Short — Running shorts with storage capacity; and
  • La Sportiva Mid-Distance Socks.

Hoka One OneWhen it launched the Mafate, Hoka One One shook up the entire running-shoe world. They took cushioning and comfort to a whole new level. While the height and appearance of some models have trended back toward the center, new midsole materials and, frankly, a bit more attention to appearance mean that Hokas still offer a ton of cushion and comfort. That’s certainly the case with the Karl Meltzer-inspired Speedgoat (men’s & women’s) trail shoe, which contest winners receive. In addition to Hoka’s iconic midsole, this shoe has a well-lugged outsole featuring Vibram’s ultra-sticky MegaGrip compound.

Black Diamond logoYou might not see too much Black Diamond around at your local trail 30k, as you increase the distance and difficulty of a trail outing you’ll see more and more BD! Black Diamond makes a wide variety of headlamps with the Spot Headlamp being a great option for trail running. Should you be tackling very long or steep climbs (or descents!), you might want to check out Distance Carbon Z trekking poles, the standard in collapsible trekking poles for trail runners. BD’s simple, lightweight Bbee 11 Pack offers trail runners plenty of storage capacity out on the trail. The winners of this contest will get all three of these products.

SmartWoolSmartWool has been making incredibly comfortable running socks for quite a while now. Their PhD run socks are top of the line and come in a wide variety of heights and weights. The winner of this contest will get his or her choice of two pairs of SmartWool PhD Run socks. SmartWool also crafts a huge variety of incredibly comfortable apparel, including the PhD Ultralight Short Sleeve, which this contest’s winners will also receive.

Honey Stinger logoYour trail run might call for a snack before, during, or after. Enter Honey Stinger which offers many different tasty treats to keep you going on the trail. Two options that this contest’s winners will get to try Honey Stinger Gluten Free Waffles and Honey Stinger Protein Chews in a variety of flavors.
