2015 Skyrunner World Series Schedule Announced

The 2015 Skyrunner World Series schedule.

By on October 30, 2014 | Comments

Skyrunner World SeriesThe Skyrunner World Series will be back for 2015 and, once again, it will have separate series in the Vertical Kilometer, Skyrace, and Ultra categories. There are lots of familiar races in the 2015 World Series, but also a few changes. Gone are the Speedgoat 50k and Trofeo Kima (only run every other year). In are the Mont Blanc 80k, Tromsø Skyrace, Suunto Lantau 2 Peaks, and Ultra Pirineu.

While 2014 saw the addition of a few Skyrunner national series, 2015 will see the addition of Skyrunning Continental Championships in the Sky and Ultra categories in three regions with the VK also being contested in Europe and North America. No longer in the World Series, the Zegama-Aizkorri Marathon and Ice Trail Tarentaise become European Championships instead.

In effect, the Continental Championships are mandatory for those going for a Skyrunner World Series title as the World Series scoring will now include three SWS races and a continental championship. It is unclear how this will be handled in the VK, where Continental Championships have not been announced for three regions.
