2016 UTMB Top Entrants Announced

UTMB logoThe UTMB race administration recently released its list of top entrants. On Wednesday, it also released the results the lottery draws for the 2016 race editions. High-level athletes are generally considered separately, as the race administration holds a certain number of spots for them. A number of high-level athletes were additionally accepted into the race via the lottery.

Here you can search the full entrants list for the UTMB and its sister races, and below we’ve pulled together a list of top contenders for the UTMB, CCC, and TDS.

Please note that the race admin allows late entries for high-level athletes, so we’re certain that a number of elites whose names aren’t on the entrants list today will still start the race. This list, however, gives us a good baseline for who we’ll see at the pointy end of the field.

I just assumed that Krar would race UTMB this year after the injury kept him from running in 2015. Anyone know what his 2016 plans are?

Dennis, he was on my list at some point when I was drafting this article, as I watched his very strong race at UTMF. I’m not sure how his name got dropped off between drafting and publishing, perhaps a copy-paste or cut error? He’s back on the list now, though. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. Brendan

How about the ultra trail women’s champion, Nuria? I know she DNF’d last event but she still won the tour, does she get an automatic entry not through the lottery?

    1. Meghan Hicks

Brendan, the UTMB race admin considers elite entrants separately. Most elites entirely bypass the lottery and receive entrance to the race. Núria Picas would certainly be placed in this category. She is not currently on the entrants list for UTMB so this is most likely by her own choice.

Flattered to be mentioned with all these impressive names but I doubt you’ll find me at the pointy end this time! Hope to have a blast and a new experience racing overseas. Can’t get fired up just yet however, too early!

I am going all out: Jasmin Paris with a new CR, her staggering Bob Graham round shows what she can do on an unmarked fell course, imagine what she could be capable of here on a good day…. seriously exciting runner!
