Salomon Exo S-Lab Tight M (Men’s)

Salomon Exo SLAB Tight M - front[While we've sold out of the Salomon Exo S-Lab Tights, we do carry the next iteration of these tights, the Salomon Exo III Tight M.]

The Salomon Exo S-Lab Tight M, which is an elongated version of the company’s popular Exo S-Lab II Shorts M. As such, the S-Lab Tight M features the same upper leg compressive TPU-overlay that provides muscle control and postural support. Also incorporated in these tights are the awesome front and rear pockets more fully described below. The Exo S-Lab Tights provide one feature their shorter predecessor couldn’t – built in Exo Calves… or at least their tight equivalents. As you’d expect, these tights feature front and rear reflective elements and cuff zippers. All in all, these compression tights are definitely design with winter performance in mind.

Salomon’s sales blurb for the S-Lab Tights reads “Run easier, longer & recover faster. Long Tight with muscle support and postural stability from the EXO SENSIFIT technology.”

Pockets
Aside from the S-Lab tight’s key compression benefits, there’s one aspect worth highlighting – four external pockets, including a front pocket. That’s right, there’s a tapered 5″ wide by 2.5″ tall mesh pocket that sits on your lower abdomen. In the rear, there is a row of three mesh pockets, each of which is approximately 2″ wide by 2.5″ tall. The rightmost and leftmost rear pockets have a small pull tab at the top.

These pockets make the shorts an ideal race day item, as if you carry a handheld bottle, there’s no need wear any pack whatsoever if you travel fast and light. We’d say that the shorts easily hold 6 sports gels and could hold up to TEN gels without being cumbersome. The elastic mesh does a great job of keeping the gels from bouncing while the high waist band where the pockets are situated keeps stored goods from impeding your range of motion.

Fit and Sizing
In a highly unscientific test, the Exo S-Lab Tight M fit true to American sizing. The fit is distinctly different from earlier iterations of the Exo 3/4 tight, which forced us to size up. Sizing should be done by measuring the quad at its greatest circumference rather than by waist measurement. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Here’s the sizing:

  • Small: 20 1/2-22″ (52-56 cm)
  • Medium: 22-23 1/4″ (56-59 cm)
  • Large: 23 1/4-24 3/4″ (59-63 cm)
  • Extra Large: 24 3/4-26 1/4″ (63-67 cm)

Any women who are interested in this product, this is a men’s cut and includes a men’s specific brief. That’s not to say you can’t use the product (some women surely will); however, we wanted to put you in the know. It would be easy enough to snip out the brief, after all.
