Where the Road Ends: Altra, UltrAspire, Injinji, VFuel, and BUFF Contest

Where the Road Ends: A Guide to Trail RunningWe think the five brands in today’s Where the Road Ends: A Guide to Trail Running Launch Week contest are a natural fit. Once again, we’ll have two winners, one woman and one man. This time, they’ll both win prizes from Altra, UltrAspire, Injinji, VFuel, and BUFF.

As we are holding these contests to celebrate the launch of Where the Road Ends perhaps you’ll check out the book. Also, feel free to spread the word about the book however you feel comfortable!

AltraLeading off today’s contest is Altra, a company best know for its zero-drop shoes with a foot-shaped toe box. However, Altra has recently started making apparel that brings the company’s unique perspective to a wider array of running products. We’re excited that Altra will be providing a full set of the following to one woman and one man.

UltrAspire logoIt seems only natural to pair Altra with its fellow Utah-based brethren UltrAspire. UltrAspire’s founder Bryce Thatcher has been designing hydration equipment for decades and hasn’t let up one bit. Both winners will get to try UA’s Alpha 2.0, a hydration pack that’s great for a wide variety of uses, and the Isomeric Pocket, a handheld hydration solution with additional on-hand storage.

VFuelVFuel is also hooking up both winners with a box of VFuel Endurance Gels, based on its Vi Endurance Formula and with flavors ranging from Peach Cobbler to Maple Bacon (along with more standard flavors), and VFuel Ultra Endurance Drink Mix.

Injinji logo - horiztonalInjinji has long had a following in the trail running world and that’s not changed a bit. For the unfamiliar, Injinji makes “toe socks,” that is socks with individual pockets for each toe with the benefit of fewer toe blisters. This contest’s winners will receive one pair each of Injinji’s Trail Midweight Micro, Mini-Crew, and Crew toe socks.

BUFF logoBUFF invented the “tubular headwear category” and, in fact, people regularly call all products in the category “Buffs.” Still, there’s only one “Original BUFF,” and both of the contest’s winners will get one.

The more previews I read, the more excited I get for the book! I’m a full time working mom and I’m a trail-runner :) and my 2 year old daughter is a trail baby <3

  2. Clint Ausmus

I’ve wanted some Lone Peaks for quite some time. That Stash Jacket looks awesome too.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  3. Monica

Here’s hoping! I never win, contests or races, but I keep on having faith, and training. Going to order the book for sure.

  4. Marty Lindemann

    Hi Bryon,
Love your site, congratulations on your book! It’s been amazing to watch the sport evolve.
Do you need a correspondent from Italy? I will be there aug 2016-July 2017. come visit!

  5. Katherine

Just had my first baby and looking forward to getting back on the trails this summer. Definitely need a refresher like this book!

  6. Charissa Garcia

Thank you for another winning combo of prizes! Love Altra’s ergonomic toe box, I love my Olympus!

  7. Jonas Fröberg

Defenitely nice makes. Been running in Injinjis and with an Ultaspire pack for some years now and have a pair of Altras for training. Me like!

  8. Sid Chen

I’ve been running in the Lone Peaks for a few months now and really like them. Thanks for another great prize package.

  9. PeterL

Sore Achilles as the weather gets good, means I’m sitting at my desk looking at my Lone Peak 2.0’s and wishing. That said, having more trail stuff to look at (in the short term) and use (in the longer term)would be great. Nice idea!

  10. Cody L Custis

I’ve been trying to get used to the Lone Peak 2.5. The problem is that my 2.0s were beat up enough to make the size 10.5s bigger than the 11s that I bought, but they are just not breaking in the way that I like. That’s the challenge with running shoes, trying to figure out what feels good on a fresh pair, versus a pair with some wear and tear worn after running 40 kilometers….

  11. Trina Saunders

This reminds me that I need to pull out my “new” Altras that I bought myself for Christmas. Love these shoes!

  12. Andrejs Jesko

Wow! Sounds like great book to read and learn.
From all these prizes I’ve tried only Original Buff so far and it has become my favorite gear for competitions. Would love to try them all.

  13. Samantha saliasi

Can’t wait to check out the book! Definitely going to try Altra, I’ve got box shaped feet so they should suit me!!

  14. David Nowaczewski

Pick me. I have Altras already and love them and use by Buff daily. My wife and I love our Injinjis but I’ve not tried any VFuel or UltAspire products.

  15. Mark Smith

Five of my absolute favorite brands. You can take my name out of the other contests, this is the one I want.

  16. Ryan E Saunders

Currently training for my debut ultra marathon (Sulphur Springs Trail Race 50k). Reading everything I can get my hands on (ultra & trail running related). Rocking a pair of Altra Superior 2.0 + Injinji. Styling with my team gear, customized Buff (@summitchasers). Heard a lot of good things about UltrAspire & VFuel. Perhaps, I’ll add Where the Road Ends, to my reading list, as well as a few products that I have yet to try ;) Thanks for this great opportunity.

  17. Dave

It’s so hard thinking of an appropriate comment so I’m not that “please give me free stuff k thx bye” guy. Having said that, I would really like some free stuff. K thx bye.

  18. Glenn

I’ve been curious about the Superior, but not curious enough yet to buy a pair. But I’d certainly try a free pair!

  19. Joe Coppom

I’ve been reading iRunFar.com for a while and very much enjoy reading the exploits of the Ultra Community. Thanks Bryon, Meghan and all the iRunFar contributors! Can’t wait to purchase and read the new book.

  20. rebecca

I’ve heard great things about Altra especially for those of us with wide feet. Would love to try a pair :-)

  21. Patty Vander Dussen

  22. Cameron

Thanks for continuing to cover trail running and give us all a glimpse of each others’ efforts, fun, and frolic on the trail. Cheers!

  23. Ryan Stormo

Don’t know how you keep putting together these awesome prize packages but I’m loving them! (M)

  24. Jeremy Martin

Congratulations on the book! Now if I could only learn to read and run at the sametime without getting a face full of dirt. I’d much rather have a face full of doughnuts then a face full of dirt.

  25. Annette Schulz

I am trying to buy this book but Kindle doesn’t have it yet.
I love my Altra superior 2.0 trail shoes! With them I am trying to do all ultra distances that I can this year! Already done is: 50 and 55k. Coming up in two weeks is a 12 hour race and then Miwok 100k! Possibly a 100 miler in the near future! I love, love trail running! My Altra superior makes it like running on clouds!

  26. Dirk Renner

My lone peaks are my favorites, ultra aspire great is epic. Never tried a buff but sure would like to. Thanks

  27. Tyrel Denison

Always glad to see new reading/running material. I’d also love to replace my tired Altras with a new pair after my first marathon this weekend. Double win!

  28. Daryl

Great run yesterday, shake out today, and I’m looking forward to wearing my Altras in a 50k on Saturday. Love them, and would love to win more!

  29. Katie W

What’s the best running store in Moab, iRunFar? I’ve always felt left out when I’m here since I don’t bike or jeep. Gearheads is a must–what else?

  30. Rob

I’m new to trail running. I haven’t bought any books yet on prepping for ultras but this one looks like a good start.

  31. Annie Murphy!

  32. Rebecca

Meghan & Bryon represent the total package in ability to help trail runners improve: love & enthusiasm for the sport; knowledge of the science behind the training; trail runners themselves; connected to the community- recreational & professional; and great writers! Best of luck with the book launch !!

  33. Steven

Congrats on the book! I used your first book to get through my first 50k…also love the title – relentless forward progress. Cheers!

  34. Jason

  36. Laura

The book looks great – can’t wait to read it. I really hope to win the contest as I’m doing my first hundred miler this year (ES100) and I love all the prize providers.

  37. Ian

Relentless Forward Progress lives on my bedside table, I can’t wait for Where the Road Ends to join it!

  38. Steve

Headed to run rim-2-rim-2-rim in my Altra Lone Peak 2.5s next weekend! Would love to win the prize. After years of searching, finally found the best trail shoes on the market!

  39. Sichelle W.

Shout outs to injinji and Altra for taking such good care of us and our trail running feet! Your products are amazing, and I know several trail and ultra runners who swear by your products and won’t use anything else on their long runs. Kudos and keep up the good work.

  40. Phillip Gibb

Injinji, that would be interesting… never tried them because my toes eat up socks at a rate of knots

  41. Neil

Thanks for putting this contest on! Even though I won’t win (reverse jinx), I love that you do this for your readers.

  42. Cymber Gieringer

Some really fun stuff in this prize pack — Injinji socks have really helped my poor toes. Thanks, iRunFar!! (Female)

  43. Ethan Money

Interesting as I already use or have looked into using products from all of these companies. Hope to pick the book up soon.

  44. Jacqui Haggland

These are all my brands. I love Altra and have covered many friends and family to the zero drop way of running. This prize pack is awesome!

  45. Eliza (F)

You guys are offering up awesome prizes! V Fuel is far and away my favorite gel. I like that you paired Altra and Injinji on the same day — the two are a match made in heaven :)

  46. Ian Ramsey

Thanks guys. You make a big difference in the ultra world. I’m looking forward to the new book!

  47. Kim McCallum

Love the toe socks and have recently converted to Altra shoes. Running my first 50 mile this year and could use all of this good stuff!

  53. scout

So stoked to read this. Already ordered my copy. Given how many copies I’ve owned/loaned/never gotten back and again replaced of Relentless Forward Progress, I can’t wait to see what’s in this one.

  54. Dan Tyree

Your last book helped me get off the roads and on to the trails. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks for all you do for the trail community.

  55. Linnea (female)

As a beginner in trailrunning I think I’ve finally found something I really like doing, and hopefully can keep on doing until age 90-ish. I’m eager to learn more about trailrunning and this book seems promising. Can’t help entering this giveaway too for a chance to get some gear to help me on the way to becoming a full fledged trailrunner.

  56. Curt Krieger

Always love irunfar contests…also need to add this book to my collection. Already have Relentless Forward Progress!

  57. KimmyH

I love my Altras and would love to try another pair! Never tried Injinji’s but I have heard wonderful things!

  58. Elaine

My first dog was named Buff. And I just said goodbye to my current trail partner, a dog named Ruby. I need some serious cheering up via winning gear.

  59. Forrest

UltraAspire packs are awesome! Thanks for the opportunities and continuing to contribute to trailrunners everywhere

  60. Jen

I love my Lone Peak 2.5s but they need a mate. Would love to try another Altra model in this prize pack.

  61. AmandaG

Looking forward to reading the book and congratulations on all the hard work! Would love an opportunity to win, thank you!!
