Darcy Africa Pre-2011 Hardrock Interview

July 7, 2011 by Bryon Powell · 5 Comments

Last year, Darcy Africa placed second at her first Hardrock 100. Since then, she’s won the Wasatch 100, the Collegiate Peaks 50 mile, and Golden Gate Dirty Thirty 50k. She’s ready to get back out there and dip under the 30 hour barrier. In this interview, she discusses her training, her record-setting double crossing of the Grand Canyon, and what she’s looking forward to this weekend.

Bryon – the depth of coverage you’ve done for Western States and Hardrock is just outstanding. I’m chipping in $25 as a token of appreciation and would encourage others to do the same. This kind of coverage is unparalleled in even most major sports and light years beyond major media coverage of running.

Mackey, she made a point to say she wouldn’t eat any apples during her interview. ;-)

Nice interview. You might want to work on your lighting so we can see the faces.

Lighting? I walk into the shot after hitting record on the camera! ;-) I did get her to take her sunglasses off before the interview. :-)
