JFK 50 Miler Weekend
November 19, 2008 by Bryon Powell · 2 Comments
With the JFK 50 mile (the nation’s largest and oldest ultramarathon) upon us, we thought we’d post some links to information about the race that you might find interesting. Trail Goat will be up at the race tomorrow, so be sure to say hi if you see him. He’ll be around before and after the race, at the first few aid stations, as well as on the course with some friends at about 8 hour pace. Enough with the chatter, the promised links are below.
- The Official JFK website
- Reflections on the JFK 50 Mile Run by Anstr Davidson- The seminal piece on the race.
- 2008 Entrants List – Check to see if your friends are in the race or which speed demons are racing.
- Trail Goat’s 2007 JFK Race Report – A detailed report of a PR effort.
- Trail Goat’s Running Times JFK Article -Presidential Race: JFK 50 -The legacy of the JFK 50 lives on was Bryon’s first published running piece.
- iRunFar’s JFK Photo Contest – We ran this contest to generate photos for the Running Times article. There are 10 great shots.
- iRunFar’s Readers’ Thoughts on JFK – This post generated input for the Running Times article.
Best of luck to everyone running the JFK 50 Mile tomorrow! Leave a comment if you are running the race or would like to send a racer well wishes.

I’ll be running tomorrow. It’s my first real ultra (hopefully of many many more). I’ll be out with the MCRRC folks tomorrow morning and driving up to the expo in just a minute. Thanks for all the ultra news/info thus far that has gotten me to where I am today. See ya out there!
Best of luck, Gill. Glad I could be of some assistance.
