Montrail Steak Update

August 30, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 4 Comments

As previously mentioned, I’ll be fit and wear testing the forthcoming Montrail Streak. After a bit of fretting earlier in the week, my Streaks arrived yesterday afternoon. Last evening, I through them on for a slow 5 mile road run. They easily passed the “they don’t suck” test. That’s about as much feedback as I’d [...]

Go West (and read), Young Man

August 30, 2007 by Bryon Powell · Leave a Comment

I’m so excited about my pending trip out west and can hardly sit here at my desk while waiting for my early evening flight. Lots of good running, good times, good beer (or bad), and good people to be had. In addition to running and relaxing, I plan to add a third “R” to my [...]

Wasatch Ramblings

August 29, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 1 Comment

Here’s most of an email I sent to a fellow ultrarunner who is running the Wasatch 100 in two weekends. It’s rambling, but sort of conveys a sense of the race. Take note that I spend almost the email discussing the final 25 miles … this is most of the race. Settle in and make [...]

Grand Teton 100 Preview

August 28, 2007 by Bryon Powell · Leave a Comment

I just got off the phone with Andy Jones-Wilkins (his blog). I’m really excited to be pacing him at the Grand Teton 100 this weekend for so many reasons. First, I truly love to pace. I view it as giving back to the ultrarunning community in a very personal way, and I think I can [...]

Onwards and Upwards

August 27, 2007 by Bryon Powell · Leave a Comment

Ok, so I still haven’t had time to describe my pending Rocky Mountain trip very well. Here’s the low down that I’ll hopefully expand or reiterate over the next few days. On Thursday evening I fly out to Salt Lake City. From there my buddy and stud Inov8 runner, Steve Burton, will travel up to [...]

Going Streaking

August 23, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 2 Comments

These days I don’t often hit the trails. I live in an urban area with the near trail of significant length about 3 miles away. Back in the day I could hit this trail after work during the summer, but these days I’m not getting home early enough from work to get in some dirt [...]

Montrail Streak

August 21, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 3 Comments

Woohoo! I’ll be fit and wear testing the new Montrail Streak that is scheduled to come out in Spring 2008. There are already a few reviews of the shoe following the recently held summer Outdoor Retailers Expo, but I’m not making any judgments until I strap a pair to my feet. (Though they do look [...]

One Forward After Two Backwards

August 20, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 1 Comment

I have been and remain uncontrollably busy. Between unbelievable work weeks, visiting guests, and other commitments, I’ve been going non-stop for a couple weeks. My past three weekends have been fun but they been somewhat prohibitive of training as much as I should… I sit here looking at my calendar and see another month of [...]

On the Ball [and Not]

August 6, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 2 Comments

My running week sucked last week. Maybe I decided to take a break between a long day and a track day. Track day didn’t happen on Tuesday as I worked too late. Ran five but didn’t work out on Wednesday. No run on Thursday as I worked until the last metro home (nearly midnight). Friday [...]
