“…it’s been sublime the entire time.”

Ah, a recovery day. I awoke to hot coffee and an everything bagel with cream cheese waiting for me. Not a bad way to start the day. After packing up, Steve and I hit the rode. We would take the scenic route back to Park City. The first leg took us down the Snake River.

And then over to Bear Lake.

Looking west over Bear Lake.

Where there was a sweet thunderstorm.

Thunderstorm approaching Bear Lake from the west.

From Bear Lake we went through our fourth? fifth? National Forest of the day down to Logan. We then took the scenic trip down 84 rather than stay on I-15 and head up to PC on I-80. Steve seemed to enjoy Devil’s Slide.

Once we got to town I headed out for an easy run. Reverse Lost Prospector and then up over Masonic Hill to Solamere and Deer Valley beyond. I was pleased that while I didn’t feel sharp, the pace wasn’t too far off what I might have kept last summer and the hills weren’t debilitating. Of course, the weather was near perfect… again. I haven’t written much about the weather so far this trip, but that’s because it’s been sublime the entire time. It’s never been too hot and the only time I was cold was the shirtless walk out of Grand Teton National Park in a thunderstorm.

I ended the day with a Rogue’s Chocolate Stout (one of my absolutely favorite beers) and a slice of cheese pie up at the Sidecar with Steve.
