Dear Readers,
Thursday, July 31, 2025, marks my last day as Managing Editor with iRunFar. It’s been quite a journey over the past three years, and while I’ll be sad to say goodbye, I’m looking forward to taking up the position of reader and fan, and appreciating the great storytelling of all at iRunFar with an outside perspective.
A lot has happened for me both professionally and personally in the three years and three months since I began my journey with iRunFar, initially as Editor. At the time of my appointment, I was running solo through life and eager for adventure, which working at iRunFar provided in spades. Along the way, however, I have picked up a rescue cat, a husband, a child — and another on the way. As my little family continues to grow, it feels like time to pass the torch, and focus my attentions closer to home.

It’s been a privilege to be part of the team and I will always be grateful to Meghan Hicks and Bryon Powell for trusting me with their creation — this unique site, which has overseen so much growth and change in the sport. I’ve loved getting to know our team of writers, each of whom brings something unique to iRunFar’s offering, with their various interests and perspectives.

Our team has also been enhanced by the multifaceted presence of soon-to-be Managing Editor, Eszter Horanyi. Whether she’s needed as a writer, an editor, a photographer, a buddy for a 5 a.m. run, or a 5 p.m. beer — Eszter can always be relied upon. There is no one more deserving of the title of Managing Editor, and I am excited to see the direction she helps to steer the iRunFar ship in.
As for me, as I count down to the arrival of baby number two in six weeks, I am looking forward to taking some time away from work to watch my little ones grow. I hope I can use the lessons I’ve learned through my time at iRunFar to instill in them a love and respect for the natural world, and the curiosity to take the trail less followed.
[Editor’s Note: It’s with fondness, sadness, and deep gratitude that we say goodbye this week to Sarah. iRunFar is better and its future is brighter because of the enthusiasm and skill Sarah brought to her work here. We will miss you! -Meghan]
