2025 Broken Arrow Skyrace Ascent and 23k Live Coverage

iRunFar’a live coverage of the 2025 Broken Arrow Skyrace Ascent and 23k from Olympic Valley, California.

World Mountain Running Association - 2024 logoThe 2025 Broken Arrow Skyrace is a trail running festival that includes a variety of races around the Palisades Tahoe ski area in Olympic Valley, California, from June 19 through 22. We’ll be covering the Ascent on Friday, June 20, and the 23k on Sunday, June 22.

Friday’s Broken Arrow Skyrace Ascent is a Mountain Running World Cup race that is taking a revised route due to a forecast for gale-force winds, making the original exposed ridgeline and finish line too dangerous. The revised route will climb 2.15 miles (3.5 kilometers) and 1,800 feet (550 meters) from the base of the ski area to the top of KT-22 peak. It will also serve as a selection race for Team USA for the Uphill race at September’s World Mountain Running Championships in Spain. [Updated: June 19, 10 a.m. PDT]

Sunday’s Broken Arrow Skyrace 23k is a single clockwise loop of a 13.5-mile (21.8k) course. While the course has a few rolls, the total elevation gain of 4,700 feet (1,433 meters) is only roughly 50% more than the Ascent’s uphill-only course. The 23k is both a Mountain Running World Cup race as well as a Golden Trail World Series race.

The Ascent starts on Friday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), while the 23k begins on Sunday, June 22, at 8:40 a.m. PDT for the women and 9 a.m. for the men.

We’ll share stories from before, during, and after both races on iRunFar’s X feed with text and photo reports from all over the course on race days. We’ll also be live blogging the same material as on X below in this article. We’re also embedding the live video feed of the Ascent and 23k below.
