Nick Clark Pre-2011 Hardrock 100 Interview

July 7, 2011 by Bryon Powell · 2 Comments

It wasn’t all that long ago (just 10 days earlier, in fact) that we last interviewed Nick Clark (Pearl iZUMi) after his third place finish at the Western States 100. Despite Nick’s showing at States, Hardrock is the race that’s had his attention and, in a what might be a scary thought to his competitors, the race for which he thinks he’s better suited!

As Nick claimed he wasn’t going to be competitive in light of finishing Western States two weeks ago, we asked him about his thoughts on the competition at this year’s Hardrock. We also discussed his post-States recovery, his pacing crew, and his race plan based on how his body’s feeling.

It’s funny to hear Nick saying he doesn’t expect to be competitive!

It was great to hear him talk about the descents hurting more than the uphill. Nice to know that an elite has the same problem I do.
