Anton Krupicka Post-2010 Western States 100 Interview

June 28, 2010 by Bryon Powell · 13 Comments

Anton Krupicka talks with iRunFar follow his second place finish at the 2010 Western States 100. Krupicka ran 15:13:53, which was nearly 26 minutes under Scott Jurek’s previous course record.

[I forgot to ask while on camera, but Anton was quite pleased with how his unmodified New Balance MT101s performed.]

Another great interview Bryon. Great job! Thanks so much. Can’t tell you how wonderful it’s been to follow your total coverage of the race through articles, interviews, updates, FB and Twitter. Thoroughly appreciated the effort you put into this.

Great stuff Bryon. Best coverage of WS from any of the outlets. Good balance of runners and even an interview with Canadians. It was a great race, can’t wait until UTMB for the Roes v Jornet matchup.

Thanks to your coverage I’m even more inspired to get through CDR this year. I think irunfar needs to cover that again.

Thanks, Mark. I’m glad to have interviewed three Canadians this weekend. I would have interviewed Gary Robbins and fellow Canadian Glen Redpath together on Saturday night after they finished, but my video camera was locked in someone else’s car.

With a lot of luck, I’ll be in Europe to cover UTMB. It’s unlike that I’ll make it to the Death Race this year as I’ll be in Salt Lake City the following week. Should be a much improved field this year.

    Bryon,

These interviews are really the best things ever. After seeing these people run so fast for so long, I’m really appreciative to find out what their personalities are like.

Is there any way you could do a phone interview or something with Gordy Ainsleigh? I’d really love to hear how his race went. That old guy never stops. To me his finish is the highlight of the race.

I second this request! I’m in awe of the winners, of course, but just reading a one liner about Gordy’s finish was enough to move me to tears.
