Thanks for all your coverage! I am curious, what was the logic behind doing interviews with Paul (M9) and Corrine (F9)?
Not complaining, as I would watch as many interviews as you put up. It just seems like an interesting choice to interview 1,2,3 and 9.
Hey, Will. The fact that we interviewed ninth in each race was a coincidence. For a number of years now, after Western States we’ve interviewed the women’s and men’s top three as well as one more of each gender from within the top ten. Almost exclusively, it’s someone with a long history of solid performances who we’ve never interviewed before. After being in the top ten the two preview years, I told Meghan before this year’s race that if Giblin was in the top ten again this year, he was definitely our bonus interview. He finished ninth. Not that I looked at it this way, but I believe Corrine was the top woman who we’d never before interviewed.
Makes sense, thanks!
Again, you guys have surpassed my expectations! Great work and thank you! Just for the record, I donated to the website.
Lets talk about the good ‘ole days, when runners actually used to write blog posts about their races (Nick Clarks’ irunmountains.blogspot.com, as a great example). I’d rather read a well written race report than look at 100 mile splits in a Strava profile. Get off my lawn, kids!!!
Kaci Lickteig wrote two great blog posts. One before, and one after WS. You’re welcome!
