[Editor’s Note: March is Women’s History Month! For the last seven days of March, we’re highlighting seven stories of women moving the needle forward in trail running and ultrarunning. Each article offers you a way to take action and elevate the women who make up our community. Let’s celebrate!]

Addie Bracy is a mountain runner; ultrarunner; academic; advocate of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and other (LGBTQ+) athletes; coach; mental skills consultant; and author. Ohmygosh that’s a lot and I’m sure I missed more facets of Addie.

Her book Mental Training for Ultrarunning releases at the end of June 2021 and is now available for pre-order. As an expert in sports and performance psychology, Addie structured the book as a series of case studies of the mental strategies specific ultrarunners use to find success. iRunFar’s “Catching Up With” column recently connected with Addie to learn some more details of this book.

In addition to purchasing Addie’s book, you can also get behind her organization OUTrun which aims to raise awareness of and create a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ runners. You can also hire her to help with your mental skills training via Strive Mental Performance. Also, follow her Trail Runner Magazine column; here’s one of her recent articles.
