2019 Transvulcania Ultramarathon Live Coverage

The 2019 Transvulcania Ultramarathon fires off before dawn local time on Saturday morning, on the island of La Palma, one of Spain’s Canary Islands. The route is 74.3 kilometers (46 miles) long, has 4,350 meters (14,280 feet) of climbing, and travels point-to-point over the spine of the island, which is made up of a series of volcanoes, topping out at 2,420 meters (7,940 feet) altitude.

The race takes place on Saturday, May 11th, starting at 6 a.m. Western European Summer Time (Friday, May 10th at 11 p.m. U.S. Mountain Time).

The course records are 6:52:39 for the men (Luis Alberto Hernando, 2015) and 8:04:17 for the women (Ida Nilsson, 2017).
