Salomon offers a wide variety of compression garments in its EXO apparel line. One such product is the Salomon Exo SLAB II Short M. While other Salomon Exo tights or shorts focus on muscles support, the SLAB II Short M includes a key postural control element. These compression shorts are definitely design with performance in mind.
[Reminder: We can only ship Salomon products to US addresses... but that's our only restriction. Got a friend over here? Visiting soon? Get creative.]
Salomon's sales blurb for the SLAB II Short M reads "Run easier, longer & recover better. EXO technology improve performance and recovery by supporting muscles and increasing blood flow." Indeed, these shorts are suited for many uses ranging from training to racing to post-workout recovery.Pockets
Salomon Exo SLAB II Short M - front pocketAside from the SLAB short's key compression benefits, there's one aspect worth highlighting - four external pockets, including a front pocket. That's right, there's a tapered 5" wide by 2.5" tall mesh pocket that sits on your lower abdomen. In the rear, there is a row of three mesh pockets, each of which is approximately 2" wide by 2.5" tall. The rightmost and leftmost rear pockets have a small pull tab at the top.
These pockets make the shorts an ideal race day item, as if you carry a handheld bottle, there's no need wear any pack whatsoever if you travel fast and light. We'd say that the shorts easily hold 6 sports gels and could hold up to TEN gels without being cumbersome. The elastic mesh does a great job of keeping the gels from bouncing while the high waist band where the pockets are situated keeps stored goods from impeding your range of motion.
[Note: We have the XL in both black on black and black on silver. Please leave a note on the checkout page if you have a style presence.]
Exo Technology Video
For more on Salomon’s Exo Sensifit technology, watch this video with Running Times Trail Editor Adam Chase:
In a highly unscientific test, the EXO SLAB II Short M fit true to American sizing. The fit is distinctly different from earlier iterations of the Exo 3/4 tight, which forced us to size up. Sizing should be done by measuring the quad at its greatest circumference rather than by waist measurement. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Here's the sizing:
- Small: 20 1/2-22" (52-56 cm)
- Medium: 22-23 1/4" (56-59 cm)
- Large: 23 1/4-24 3/4" (59-63 cm)
- Extra Large: 24 3/4-26 1/4" (63-67 cm)
