Salomon S-Lab Sense
[Update:We've sold out of the now discontinued Salomon S-Lab Sense; however, we now have the Salomon Sense Ultra (Sense update) and Sense Mantra (training version of the Sense).]
Few trail shoes have been more anticipated in recent years than the Salomon S-Lab Sense. It’s a sub-7 ounce, 4 mm heel-to-toe drop piece of trail running nirvana for your feet. Sliding on the Sense, it feels like the most comfortable of slippers, while providing a whole lot more protection. Salomon designed the Sense to meet Kilian Jornet’s needs for the 2011 Western States 100… which he won.
While ultralight, quite flexible, low to the ground, and with a modest heel-toe drop, these are NOT “barefoot” shoes. They do provide a moderate amount of push-through protection and a descent amount of stability.
These are the first low-profile shoes I find comfortable and supportive enough to wear all the time.

Sizing Note: The Salomon Sense fits true to size when used as intended, which is to say barefoot or with very thin socks. If you intended to wear thick socks with the Sense, size up half a size. Note further, that even correctly sized Sense are slow to go on before fitting like a glove.
