Lisa Borzani Post-2016 Vibram Hong Kong 100k Interview Transcript

iRunFar: Bryon Powell of iRunFar here with Lisa Borzani after her second-place finish at the 2016 Vibram Hong Kong 100k. Congratulations.

Lisa Borzani: Thank you.

iRunFar: This year you improved one place. Are you happy about that?

Borzani: Yes, I’m very happy, very, very happy.

iRunFar: Do you think your race went better overall this year?

Borzani: I think this year was better than last year because I feel better.

iRunFar: In what way? Did you feel stronger or faster or have fewer problems?

Borzani: The first part of the race I feel not very well because I like to sleep. After 20k, I stayed better, and so I tried to run faster to catch the other ladies who were in front of me.

iRunFar: In time, you were close to Silvia Trigueros of Spain for a lot of the race. Did you run together or was it always a battle?

Borzani: In the first part of the race, Silvia was in front of me. Then I caught her at about 50k. Then we ran together for 10k. Then at about 70k I tried to go away, but she was always very near. I tried to stay in front of her, and so…

iRunFar: It was very challenging for many people with the cold today. How did it affect you?

Borzani: It was very windy in the first part when you go up on the mountain, but luckily it wasn’t rainy. It was cold, but if you had hot clothes, you can go safely.

iRunFar: What other races do you have this season?

Borzani: Next race is Transgrancanaria because last year it wasn’t a good race for me. Then MaXi-Race of Annecy, Lavaredo Ultra-Trail, and Orobie Ultra-Trail.

iRunFar: What was the last race you mentioned?

Borzani: Orobie Ultra-Trail is a strong race in Bergamo, Italy, at about 140k. Then Tor des Géants.

iRunFar: That’s a very full schedule.

Borzani: I hope I do all these races.

iRunFar: Congratulations on your run here. Best of luck.

Borzani: Thank you.
