2013 TNF EC 50 Mile Championships Live Coverage

2013 The North Face Endurance Challenge 50 Mile ChampionshipsFor the fifth-straight year, iRunFar will be livecasting from The North Face Endurance Challenge 50 Mile Championships in the Marin Headlands just north of San Francisco, California. As always, both the men’s and women’s fields feature a veritable who’s who of trail ultrarunning with an even greater than usual influx of shorter-distance talent entering this year’s fray.

We’ll be livecasting the event on iRunFar’s Twitter feed. This race we’re experimenting with two means of following this combined coverage: (1) A full news stream without comments for those that prefer a clean interface and (2) A full news feed with a reader-led discussion in the CoverItLive window below.

We’ll also have live video from several locations along the course through out the day.

Here are a couple resources to help you follow the race:

I know there are live race update smart phone apps that track a given runner but is the technology good enough yet to throw up a map of the course on a web site and track the runners live on the map?

Nearly all race update apps are based on chip timing and mats. You could show on map which check point a runner had passed through, but anything more details would be conjecture.

A few races provide GPS units to a few leaders late in the race and they can routinely plot a runner's position on a map.

    Byron,
Thanks for offering the choice of twitter feeds. I prefer the clean version but there are plenty of folks that prefer it with comments. To each, his own.
    Great coverage today.
