Geoff Roes remains the man to beat among American 100 milers. (Geoff Roes post-2010 WS 100 interview) Dakota Jones already has an impressive ultra resume, but he would say that he’s yet to ace a 100 miler despite his second place finish at this year’s Hardrock 100. (Dakota Jones post-2011 Hardrock video) Both runners have had a single taste of European racing: Geoff at the rain-cancelled portion of the 2010 The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc and Dakota at the 20-mile Sierre-Zinal in Switzerland a few weeks ago. This weekend they’ll get a second chance to challenge the world’s top trail runners at this year’s UTMB.

In the following interview, Geoff and Dakota discuss their European trail racing experiences, what they’re looking forward to this weekend, the competition, and more.
