Relentless Forward Progress: Mizuno and More Contest

May 2, 2011 by Bryon Powell · 651 Comments

We were overwhelmed by the response to our week-long series of giveaways last week in celebration of the launch of Relentless Forward Progress: A Guide to Running Ultramarathons. That’s why we’re holding one final contest in celebration of you, the iRunFar readers! Actually, all these contests celebrate you.

Mizuno logo 125Headlining today’s contest is Mizuno, a century’s old company that makes high performance products for a range of sports. These days Mizuno brings its strong history in track and field to burning up the trails with two models, the Wave Cabrakan 2 (men’s & women’s) and Wave Ascend 5 (men’s & women’s) with the Cabrakan being the more protective of the two models. The winner of this contest will get his or her choice of these shoes.

Mizuno also puts out a range of running apparel (men’s & women’s) well suited to trail running and this contest’s winner will get both a running top and bottom. Wouldn’t it be sweet to winner the Cabrakan jacket (men’s & women’s), an ultralight, slim-fit, wind-resistant jacket that folds into its own pocket or any of Mizuno’s wide variety of running shorts. We sure think so!

CamelBak logoIf you’re headed out for a long training run with your new Mizuno kit, you’ll need to keep yourself hydrated. What about something from a company that has become synonymous with an entire category of hydration products? Sound good? We think so, too, which is why we’re throwing in something from CamelBak. While CamelBak may be best known for its hydration bladder-based packs, they also make a full range (actually, a ridiculously full range) of hydration products, including some great waist-worn, bottle packs. One of these is the Delaney Race pack, which holds one bottle in the rear and two small gel flasks up front along with a spacious, zippered storage pocket. As the name would suggest, it’s a speedy number that’s surprisingly light for a full-featured single-bottle waist pack.

GoMotion logoIf you’re run starts ultra early or takes you into the night, you’ll likely want some light to help you on your way. Well, GoMotion is moving lighting off the head and onto the body, such as the sternum and waist. This move provides more depth with shadows from obstacles on the trail. In truth, some runners have been jury-rigging headlamps for years to get these same effects, but GoMotion is the first company to offer dedicated solutions both as pre-rigged shoulder and waist packs with lights as well as kits that work with your own shoulder or waist pack, such as the GoMotion 3-Watt Waist Light Kit, which the winner of this contest will receive. We’ve previously reviewed GoMotion’s 1-Watt Waist Light Kit.

Finally, the winner will receive an iRunFar Headsweats hat to keep him or her comfortable and stylish year-round.
