Yup. That’s the link I’ve got in the article. I just posted it originally as a “more lengthy results list” as the race wasn’t over yet. :-)

The fast runners with “not enough ultra experience” won, as usual.

Dave is the old guy of the bunch; very impressed with his third.

well… consider Miguel Heras not enough ultraexperienced is not correct, this year he won Transvulcania (Canarias) and Trofeo Scaccabarozzi (Italy) and a great 2nd place Trofeo Kima (Italy) just after Kilian Jornet, he is a great long distance/mountain skyrunner athlet

Nice coverage Bryon ! Thanks !

Well, Heras (as Bryon already noticed in one of his prerace reports) also won this year the very much reputated Cavalls del Vent, that is 50 mi. & 20.000 ft. of positive climb, on technical ground in the Catalan Pyrenees (Spain). He won in 9:06 hours ! setting an impressive new race record.

        Greetings from Barcelona :)

Thanks for the Twitter feed Bryon. Was good to follow progress of fellow Brits Bragg & Hawker; but well done too to Ian Sharman who won the 50k

Heras has experience, but still, it’s not enough distance on trails to let the ultra experience shine…

There needs to be a 100 miler for 10 grand, that is hard and not at real altitude. This where it would get interesting, cuz 50 miles is not 100, it’s alot different.

Either way, congrats to all the runners! and once again…the rabbit rarely wins.

Karl, lets see how you do @ UTMB next year against those whose utra don’t shine enough. Yes, 50 miles and 100 are not the same nobody cares about what you criteria for succes is.

thanks for the amazing coverage!! i think i lost a day of productivity because i couldn’t stop checking my twitter feed, but it was totally worth it. there’s nothing like an epic ultra to remind me why i love the community so much.

Bryon, Thanks as ever for great coverage – your work is much appreciated! Nice work for the Brits who I inevitably follow with most interest, although I was sorry not to see Lizzie one place higher! Great racing as ever and makes me realise that I seem to be doing ultra walking events rather than running when compared to these guys!

Ballots willing, hopefully see you at the start line of UTMB in August, Jeremy

Jeremy, The ultrarunning Brits are having a pretty good go of it this year with the double win at UTMB, first and third women and team title at 100k World Champs, and Lizzie’s second on Saturday.

Hope to have you on the starting line with me next August.

Miguel Heras, despiting he raced in cycling, also comes from raids, you know, those five-day long races sleeping 15′ a day. I think he is much better in long distance runs than short; even better if are technical and very steep.

Kilian Jornet wrote yesterday in my blog that the guy that ‘scared’ him in past UTMB was, mainly, Heras. And thinks he is his #1 ‘enemy’ for 2011.

    (In spanish: http://ser13gio.blogspot.com/2010/12/san-francisco-50m-punetazo-en-la-mesa.html)

    Take him seriously.

    Congratulations for coverage.

I agree Sergio, Heras has shown to be very very very strong in hard and long courses.

What a great race! I did the 50K, my second 50K ever and boy was it tough. Never knew hills could be that long and that muddy.
