Chilly Weather, Hot Contest
October 5, 2010 by Bryon Powell · 371 Comments
[Note: This contest is now closed. Winners were announced here.]
It’s raining gear! Hallelujah! It’s raining gear! Amen! That’s right iRunFar readers, it’s time to get your gear on. You’ve helped us hit 1 million pageviews and to thank you, we’re hooking you up with gear and prizes all week. Today, we’re opening up our gear closet to give you apparel to keep you warm and running this autumn and winter. All this gear is brand spanking new… don’t ask us how we got it all.
Details on how to enter follow the list of gear to be won.
BTW, here’s an index to all of our contests this week.
Long Sleeve Shirts (all men’s medium)
- Brooks EZ T Long Sleeve (blue) – A sweet health blue long sleeve from Brooks.
- Mountain Hardwear Tech Shirt from Holiday Lake 50k ’07 (blue) – Great Mountain Hardwear lightweight tech shirt.
- Brook Equilibrium from the Old Pueblo 50 Mile (white) – The tags are still on this lightweight tech shirt.
- REI Tech Shirt from Uwharrie Mountain Run ’07 (black) – Lightweight functional tech shirt.
- Brooks Tech Shirt from HAT Run 50k (navy blue) – Another great tech shirt.
Accessory Apparel
- Moeben Sleeves (medium – long) – These tie-dyed pattern sleeves are sure to get you seen!
- Patagonia Capilene 4 Beanie – A shallow green beanie made with Polartec Power Dry that’s good for keeping your noggin’ warm, but not your ears.
- High UV Protection Buff – The Buff is a perfect accessory through all seasons with a vast array of uses. This one is great with a classic bandanna print. It also features Insect Shield insect repellent.
- Saucony Mittens (large/extra large) – A fine pair of Polartec mittens with a great nose-wiping thumb.
- Sugoi Braveheart Beanie – A black and white plaid beanie. A deep hat that you can double up over your ears.
Jacket
- The North Face TKA Textured 100 Full Zip Jacket – This is not a running jacket per ce, but it is a sweet fleece jacket with Polartec Classic Micro.
The Rules
Really, there are no rules to speak of. To enter, just leave a comment (please do this directly on the website, not via email) with your name and location. While not necessary, please include your email in the confidential box above the main comment box to help expedite our getting your brand new gear out to you (if you win). In the name of responsible shipping (and our non-existent budget) we’re limiting this contest to American and Canadian shipping locations only.
We ask that you please note in the comment only the gear pieces in which you are most interested. Your specific requests add to our work, but mean the gear goes to the folks for whom it would be most useful. There’s no limit to the number of items you can enter to win (see paragraph below), we just ask that you are thoughtful in entering the contest.
The drawing for each item will be random … for the most part. One caveat of this giveaway is that you’ll only walk away with one item. (A good reason to only enter for the items you want most.) With that in mind, there may be instances where we will deliberately divvy up prizes so that more people walk away happy.
To be eligible, you need to enter by 5 p.m. PDT on Friday, October 15. We’ll post results from all of our One Miiillllionth Pageview contests on October 18th.
A Favor
We don’t make you “do” anything to enter this giveaway. No need to fill out a form, sign up for this, or subscribe to that. However, if you appreciate iRunFar and what it does, we just ask that you spread the word. You could share news of this giveaway with others, link to iRunFar on your blog or website, or tell your buddies about the website on your next run.
While you’re at it, consider further embracing the iRunFar community through one of the following options. Not only will they keep you better informed (we share different news on the website, the Facebook page, and Twitter), but you’ll help us out, too!
- Subscribe to iRunFar via RSS or via email
- Like iRunFar on Facebook
- Follow iRunFar on Twitter
Also, anyone looking for a free iRunFar bumper sticker, please use our contact page to request one. We’ll need your full address for that! Folks, we ship these free anywhere in the world. Really!

Wow, lots of stuff I’d use here!! I need all of it. :)

Oh, I failed to mention that the North Face jacket and the Moeben arm sleeves would be the most helpful to me.
I’d really like the Moeben Sleeves or the buff. I figured if I won the Moeben sleeves then I’d have to start pumping iron so I don’t look like a stick! The buff because it gets real hot and sunny where I live.
A long sleeve shirt or the jacket would be great!

I’m poor so anything I win would be the most exciting thing ever!!!

â– High UV Protection Buff
What else could a gal ask for in terms of a versatile piece of equipment? I can wear the buff on my head, neck or even as a skirt or tube top (as much as I hate to admit it on the worldwide web yes I have worn one as a top before after a long run so to get out of my stuff). Added bonus is that it has UV protection and I would wear it on many adventures.
I have two Buffs and love them, only used them in the heat so far, but with the “cold” approaching in the South, I’ll see how they work for winter running. I’m interested in the rest of the items, especially since I love being able to wear medium shirts (got back into running, lost 50 lbs, most of my wardrobe is way too big now).

Hi, Bryon!
I am from Spain. I follow tour website a few months ago. I’d like to know if people from other countries can take part in the contests.
Keep on running,
Jesus
Jesus, As a general rule for this contest, we’re only shipping to the US and Canada. If someone from further abroad entered and won a small, light item that would be worth shipping, we would consider sending it abroad. We’re flexible, but have to be careful as shipping costs add up quickly. Someday, I’ll try to find some sponsorship for these giveaways. :-)

Northface Jacket for me.
Riverside, CA
Congratulations on the milestone page view! Frankly, I’m surprised the millionth pageview didn’t happen sooner. I’ve been an avid fan, albeit somewhat quiet, for months. And, if I ever happen to start my own running-related blog, I’m definitely going to put iRunFar.com at the top of my blog roll. And, I’m not just saying that to get free stuff!
Anyway, I’d love to have one or two more long sleeve tech shirts. So, put me in the running for one of those, please. Thanks!
Tobias | Raleigh, NC
Hey Bryon, Congrats!
Either the Brooks EZ T or Equilibrium.
Peace
Eric
Hey there!
Awesome gear. Well since it is getting colder, then the Brooks Equilibrium or the Patagonia Capilene 4 Beanie or the Brooks EZ T will do for me!

Thanks for the great blog. I’d love to run in any of that gear. All of it would keep my nice and toasty on a cold winter run.
I would love the Sugoi beanie, the mittens or the jacket. Thanks!

You guys are the bomb! I quit smoking (embarrassing but proud it’s in the past) in March 2010 and started running. On October 16th I will run the Baltimore Marathon – my first ever! I love your site and religiously read your daily updates. I doubt it added much to your huge visitor increase but I have shared your site with everyone in my running group: Charm City Run. Thanks for the great information and inspiration!

Serious congrats on the pageview milestone, it’s always a pleasure to see one of your stories pop up in my RSS feeds :).
Since this is my first full winter running I can use any of the winter gear, especially the beanies and long sleeve shirts (especially since after dropping near 70 pounds none of my old long sleeves fit!). That North Face jacket is pretty snazzy as well.
The North Face TKA Textured 100 Full Zip Jacket
PLease =)
