I've logged a few thousand miles with our BOB strollers over the last three years--first with an Ironman single, then with the Ironman double when #2 arrived. Although I like the Ironman single, running with the double (and pushing 2 30+ pound kids) was much more difficult. We actually just bought a BOB Revolution double to replace our fixed-wheel double, because the effort of turning and maneuvering so much weight was just too much. So, my recommendation: if you plan to push your kids as they get heavier, you might think about the revolving wheel double. What you sacrifice in stability is made up for in ease of turning. My lower back is already thanking me for making the switch!

Love, love, love my Bob strollers.

They have made me (I swear) a much better runner.

When my first son was born I opted to be the primary carer, and knew I'd need to have a good running stroller to keep in shape. My principal sport is triathlon, and running has always been my weakest discipline. I bought a Bob Ironman (similar to the Bob SUS).

I became a 2 hour per day runner, pushing my son who; enjoyed the view, sang and chatted or just slept.

After 6 months of that, I did a run PB and overall PB at Ironman and qualified for the Hawaii Ironman for the first time after of 16 attempts.

2 years later, one more son. Bought a Bob SUS + a Bob Duallie so my partner and I could run with our boys together, or I could take them both. New run PB, new IM PB & second Hawaii qualification.

Gotta love that.

Great review. My wife and I have had a Bob for almost five years now and it has held up great with lots and lots of miles.

A couple of suggestions I would have for future models is that the top handle does not adjust for shorter/taller folks and the padding does get wet and mine is starting to tear. I plan on replacing with basic bike handlebar tape. Also you have to be careful and not overinflate your tires. I've had a couple blowouts trying to add another ten psi.
Our most recent acquisition (besides the 3rd baby) has been a mountain buggy double stroller. While they list for almost 800 and sell on amazon for 500, patience and a bit of bargaining got me one for around 300. If you have multiple kids and uneven terrain they are by far the best for tooling around the neighborhood.

Bryon- Wardian is a machine! I was tooling around with the idea of pushing the stroller at Caumsett but I should probably stick to 5K's for now :)

Merideth,

It's actually enclosed with the option of an open front, mesh or plastic cover. It keeps my son pretty warm, but you do need to dress him for the elements.

As luck would have it, Wardian will be looking to lower his own marathon w/ stroller world record at the Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa, OK later this month. He'll be using a BOB Ironman stroller.

Thanks for the review. When selecting our baby stroller 1-1/2 years ago all reviews, suggestions, & comments of praise where directed towards BOB.

The BOB was priced outside of our price range so we decided to go with the: Jeep Overland made by Kolcraft for $125. http://www.stroller.com/stroller-jeep-overland-jogging-swift.html

My wife & I have put over 750 miles on this stroller over the past 1-1/2 years and about 1/3 of that on rocky, rooty singletrack trails. We both agree that this was our best baby purchase.

It appears to have all the features/abilities of the BOB sports utility plus the hand brake leads to disc brakes on the rear which makes great stops even on muddy steep trails. It also has built in speakers so you can plug your ipod into the stroller and still have music (for you or baby) and not risk hearing cars if you are on the road.

I use a Cougar Chariot. It has an infant sling attachment, which allows younger infants to lie in the carrier rather than have to sit up and support their head. In addition to the jogging wheel, you can attach stroller wheels, skis and also attach it to your bike. Very versatile, but also very expensive. A very smooth ride for the baby, though.
