Great report Bryon. Really enjoy reading about different trail runs during your road trip. What an amazing way to see the country. We definitely want to check out Sleep Giant at some point. Sounds amazing. Lots of other great trails around here too next time you're in these parts.

Where might this nursery be? It's not ringing a bell, but that's cause I talk to many people about running.

Jen and Jeff, thanks for letting me know that you like these road trip posts. I was worried that not many folks did and was thinking about skipping my posts about the big trip. While I might consolidate the big trip report to one post or one day's worth of posts and might delay it a bit to avoid saturation, I will post a final report. … and eventually about the trail running road trip that I'm currently enjoying!

Hi Bryon,

Thanks for sharing these! I, too, appreciate any and all mentions of Terry Fox. It's hard to believe that was almost 30 years ago, my memory of him is so vivid. To this day, the tears come thinking about him. Also -- great to see mention (and pics) of the Ruby Mountains -- some of the most beautiful country out there, great running and hiking, and few people. Plus, great birding, for those so inclined!

Glad you like the road trip reports. I had a blast visiting with Derrick and Sara. Seeing the Terry Fox Memorial was moving… I took a ton of photos up at the monument, but didn't post any. I really do need to learn his story better.

That's a spitting likeness of me up on your blog.

Holly, any travel can be a trail running road trip… just build in a little time and get creative on where to run. As for why CA was my destination… it's where my wonderful girlfriend lives.

Moogy, maybe I'll have to road trip through Canada next year.

I'm enjoying reading about your summer moving adventures. I've moved just about every 2-3 years of my life and I wish I would've made better use of the travel time to explore the great outdoors.
Out of stubborn curiosity, what brought you out to CA?

I have enjoyed reading your Summer Road Trip stories. Great that you got to Ontario to run with Derrick Spafford in Frontenac Park.
It was also nice that you mentioned Terry Fox as I am always very touched when I realize that Americans are aware of Terry and his "Legacy of Hope".
Lastly this is quite a coincidence but I happened to have posted a pic of you running in Frontenac Park on my site the other day.
