September 30, 2009 by Anthony Portera · 2 Comments
Is October almost here already, or are we dreaming? The recent accomplishments of ultrarunner Geoff Roes of Douglas, Alaska are most certainly NOT a dream. Roes, just two weeks after setting a course record at the Wasatch 100, was at it again last weekend, setting another course record – this time at the Bear 100. [...]

This Week In Running (Week of 9/26 & 9/27)
September 22, 2009 by Anthony Portera · 7 Comments
We’re back. No, we haven’t returned to celebrate all of the great birthdays that fall on the weekend of September 26 and 27, such as Serena Williams (1981), Linda Hamilton (1956), Jack LaLanne (1914) Johnny Appleseed (1774), Shaun Cassidy (1958), and Sam Adams (1722). Nor are we back to remember the historic events that occurred [...]

September 20, 2009 by Bryon Powell · 5 Comments
OK… there’s been a bit of the delay since Part 1 of my 2009 Leadville 100 report. Please excuse that. Since then I’ve paced at the Grand Teton and Wasatch 100s, gone for some runs on the east side of the Tetons, and returned to my new home in California. I assure you that this [...]

With little over a week until Catalan’s Kilian Jornet runs the Tahoe Rim Trail, we’re getting pretty excited here at iRunFar. As each new detail filters in, the journey becomes a little more real. Just this morning we learned that Kilian will start his trek in Tahoe city and run clockwise around Lake Tahoe. While [...]
It's Time To Run Your First Ultramarathon!

Folks, I apologize for the slow week on iRunFar. After pacing at and covering the Wasatch 100 last Friday, I decided to end the iRunFar Summer Roadtrip a few days early. While setting up the new iRunFar Worldwide Headquarters in the Sierra Nevada foothills, I’ve been busy helping new coaching students and working on a [...]
Geoff Roes and Betsy Nye Set Course Records at Wasatch 100
September 11, 2009 by Bryon Powell · 6 Comments
Montrail runner Geoff Roes smashed the Wasatch Front 100 in 18:30:55. Kyle Skaggs set the previous record of 19:35 in 2007. That’s over an hour improvement on well-established, always competitive course. He also dropped an hour and a half from his previous Wasatch time of 20:01:07, which he ran en route to winning last year. [...]
