Todd Walker had the lead into the first aid station at Shaw Gap (8.7 miles) with Karl Meltzer just a few meters back. Glen Redpath was three minutes back with Keith Knipling another minute behind. Another five runners including Joe Kulak came in the next minute or two. Amy Sproston entered the aid station in tenth with Mike Mason. (click below for more)

The biggest news of the morning is that pre-race favorite Bradley Mongold did not start due to illness.
