Flatland Ultra's iRunFar Interview
December 24, 2008 by Bryon Powell · 8 Comments
Happy holidays everyone! Before we shut down iRunFar headquarters and head up to New Jersey for some sweet trail running (no, really) we’re psyched to share an interview with you. Below the fold is a video interview of iRunFar Runner-in-Chief, Bryon Powell, conducted by the guys over at Flatland Ultra, Travis Liles and Michael Green. In the interview Bryon discusses his running history, the history and growth of iRunFar, Anthony Portera’s This Week in Running, and the effect of blogs and the Internet on the trail and ultrarunning communities.
After you’re done watching the interview, be sure to go over to Flatland Ultra and leave them a comment answering Bryon’s “Question of the Day” – “What get’s you out the door?” While you’re over at Flatland Ultra, check out their in-depth video gear reviews (i.e., hydration packs and Inov-8 shoes) and other video features (i.e., Karl King nutrition interview and McNaughton Park 100 race report).

Thanks again for the interview! We had a great time too. Enjoy those NJ trails. I’m going to be getting in some rugged trails in central Illinois… and I’m serious too!
Great interview, Bryon. You’re definitely right about how Web 2.0 is helping to spread the sport. I’ve got a plethora of blogs that I subscribe to via RSS where I get most of my ultra info, and I’m always finding more and more. There is so much info out there and it’s a great help to ultran00bs like myself (wow that’s a nerdy term). On that note, I always find it useful when someone posts a weekly list of other notable recent blog posts from around the web. It helps readers branch out to new sites, and doesn’t really take much time to throw together. Have you thought about adding a feature like this to iRF?
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go add Flatland Ultra to my RSS feed…
Happy Holidays everyone!
Great stuff my friend !!!
Come on up my way the day after Christmas !
Nice interview, Bryon.
Nice to “see and hear” your perspective in addition to reading your blog.
Keep up the good work.

Think you meant : [TrailRunningSOUL.com"]
You are absolutely correct Mark. It had been a very long three day work week!
. I should tell Ed of TrailrunningSoul.com to buy TrailrunningSole and set up a automatic redirect!
Travis,
Thanks for thinking to have me as the subject of an interview. Enjoy the Illinois trails.
Bobby,
I, too, subscribe to many an ultrarunning blog and I’ve certainly considered doing exactly that of which you speak. It would be a useful service. The issue is time. If iRunFar were more closely aligned with employment, I’d likely jump all over this. Until then, might I suggest you take a look at TrailrunningSoul.com . While it doesn’t have a weekly update, it does post the best from around the trail running world.
@ Lloyd, Thanks!
@ Mark, I reposted my comments to Travis and Bobby with the correct name for TrailrunningSoul! Thanks again.
