Massanutten 100 – Registration Open, Soon to Be Shut?

December 4, 2007 by Bryon Powell · 10 Comments

In doing something I thought I wouldn’t do for many years, that is sign up for the Massanutten 100, I have learned that only a short while after opening just shortly before 10 a.m. EST 117 142 158 164 of the 160 slots have been filled as of 10:46 11:09 11:21 11:26 a.m. EST. A quick look at the entrants list shows the following studs have MMT on their to do list for 2008:

  • Sean Andrish
  • Adam Casseday
  • Wynn Davis
  • Matt Estes
  • Keith Knipling
  • Mike Mason [Added 12/4 11 am]
  • Tom Nielsen
  • Mike Schuster (twice) [Added 12/4 11 am]

[Edit: Added 12/4 11:29] And then it was closed. As of 11:26 a.m., there were 164 entrants for MMT ’08. According to the MMT website, the first 160 entrants are officially in with additional entrants placed on the wait list. The good news with waited listed entrants, is that many entrants came off the wait list last year.

    Mason,
For the record, I will only be running MMT in the unlikely event that I get into Hardrock this year. Otherwise, you’ve got a pacer.

    Mason,
There’s beauty and rhythm in me banging my head against the wall, but you don’t often see me doing that do you? ;-)

    Olga,
It was a bit closer to 90 minutes (it was incorrectly reported on the ultralist), but still pretty crazy stuff! Bighorn will fill nearly instantly. VT and Leadville will fill in days rather than months. I may preemptively enter an unnamed 100 I am currently considering, as I don’t think entry will remain open for more than two weeks as opposed to the 6+ months it remained open last year.

Thanks, Dave. Pacing is the enjoyable way to tour the Massanuttens. Good thinking.

    Mule,
A Goat isn’t all that smart after all… we’re just good at eating alot and moving through the mountains quickly.
