Home Depot Run

Last week was not a good week for my training. I ditch running Miwok and instead took the whole week off to spend 9 consecutive days renovating my new house. I only got out to run 3 days after.. .which stinks after a promising two week stretch of training. Fortunately, I’m still jonesing to run.
On the positive side, I’m weighing in around 152 pounds these days, which is right around race weight. I know I’ve atrophied some muscle, so this is not a true race leanness, but it’s better that I get into training at this weight as opposed to the 162 pounds I weighed in at when March ended. I’ve only been this light two other times in the 10 years since my sophomore year cross country season in college (I can’t believe it was that long ago), and those two times were at my peak fitness just after Western States that past two years. If and when I start to race again, I’ll at least be light … even if I’m not in shape.
I’ve still got a ton of work to do in the house. Tonight, I need to pick up a can of spray paint from Home Depot, so I’ll fold my errand into my run and find a route to the depot, which should be about 3 or 4 miles away. The trick will be finding a non-highway route as I near the store.
