The Week of February 19 – 25, 2007

Synopsis of Week’s Training:
Easy Monday run, felt a bit tired. On Tuesday pre-pre-WUS (4 miles) and pre-WUS (9 miles with Keith and Sean) tired me out and I proceeded to go – as Greg Loomis would say – bonkety-bonk-bonk. It as ugly. Felt like I was going to pass out. Ran/walked to the bar for beer and bread. Felt better shortly thereafter. :-) Morning run with Keith on Wednesday. Thursday was a hard-easy-hard run with the easy being 15 minutes after a(nother) bloody nose. Thursday represented a decision to incorporate some harder efforts into my training. Friday was a recovery day. Saturday I arranged a group run out at Jeremy’s Run in the Shenandoah. The group of seven was sick talented with me probably being fifth in the depth charts at the moment. At the end of the run, four of us decided to tack on 2.5 miles – we represented four of the top five finishers at the Uwharrie 40 miler a couple weeks back! Sunday I went out early for the back half of a 20/20 weekend double. Not unexpectedly I bonked at mile 12. I fought through it and by the time I caught a metro home at mile 21 as planned, I felt that I could have run the other 3.5 miles home, but I decided to play it safe and going into the next week with something in the tank.

By The Numbers:
Monday – 8.5. Easy.
Tuesday – 15. From fun to bonk.
Wednesday – 8.5. Easy.
Thursday – 8. Moderate.
Friday – 5. Easy.
Saturday – 20. Mountain run.
Sunday – 21. Solid bonk run.

Weekly Mileage: 86
Year-to-Date Mileage: 471
Three Week Moving Average: 78.3
Year-to-Date Weekly Average: 58.8

Upcoming Training Goals:
Steady mileage during the week. Moderate effort on Thursday. Survive 50k/50k weekend intact.

That is right Brother! Put in those miles! but, listen to the signals….and Ice Ice baby. Wish I could have been part of the super stud 7 who ran together this weekend. Montrail and the VHTRC have some incredible talents these days.

Thanks, loomdog and Olga. Greg, I'm definitely chillin as often s possible here in NoVa.Olga, it might be too close for these miles to help at WTC, but they'll have me ready to race at Miwok. :-)

Joe and Teri,I hadn't heard of Kirk and his various musical collaborations until this past week, but I've enjoyed what I've heard so far. I drank a PBR for him on Thursday night.
